Abstract
Is cannabis responsible for early onset psychotic illnesses?
Author(s): Alain Dervaux,Marie-Odile Krebs,Xavier LaqueilleSeveral prospective studies in the general population and meta-analyses have consistently found that cannabis use is associated with an increased risk of psychotic disorders, in particular schizophrenia. Continued cannabis use over time increases the risk of psychosis in a dose–response fashion. A higher risk of schizophrenia is predicted by an earlier age of cannabis use.
